My main passion lies in capturing disappearing ancient cultures and the human condition in unique, challenging situations. My range of subjects is fairly broad, but whether I am photographing nomadic shepherds in India, life in the last traditional villages of Eastern Europe or sulfur miners working in a volcanic crater, my common aim is always the same – to capture the human element.”- Mitchell Kanashkevich

This man shone in the setting sun, his skin glistening, his eyes vibrant and his turban matching the color of the old painted wall behind him. I just couldn’t let the photographic opportunity pass me by.”—April Maciborka[All content © Copyright by April Maciborka] – itt:Wo wurde dieses Foto aufgenommen?

Desert DwellerA Rabari (tribe/caste of cattleherders) man in the Rann of Kutchh, Gujarat, India 2007Photography by Mitchell Kanashkevich
The Old WandererSama Bhai Rabari is one of the elders of his village. I met him along a road; he was herding his camel and a small flock of sheep. We chatted; I asked if I could take his portrait at his house, he agreed to do it the next day. To my question about directions to his house he replied “Just come to my village, anyone will show you the way, even a little child knows who I am.”
